David and I drove down to meet the insurance adjuster on September 25th. We started sorting "things to keep" from the "things to save" almost immediately. Then we began demolition on the lower 4 feet of the house. David had an interview in California on the 29th so Barb came down and helped me tear up the house. We were staying with a friend, Narissa, whose apartment wasn't damaged and she also enjoyed a few days of hard work. David flew back into Dallas and he and Richard brought my car down. Richard and Barb drove home on Friday (I think). My parents showed up on Saturday, worked really hard taking apart the bathroom and kitchen, and left late Sunday night. Then Richard and Barb drove back down on Tuesday, picking up Sarah in Houston. A family friend, Troy, came down last Thursday to help with some electrical work and has stayed helping us insulate, hang drywall, fix plumbing... (It seems that Troy can do pretty much anything!) The Merriman's left on Saturday, spent a few days at home, and Barb flew back down today. David is going to a conference in Denver tomorrow (and will be interviewing while he is there) and needed some of his clothes that were in Dallas. Sarah is leaving on Thursday and Barb and I will be driving to Dallas on Friday. There is a New Kids on the Block concert in my future!
